Xi’an, China and Neuchatel, Switzerland, January 16th, 2024 – Focuslight Technologies Inc. (Shanghai Stock Exchange: 688167), a global provider of high-power diode lasers and materials, laser optics and photonics modules and systems solutions, today announces the successful completion of its acquisition of SUSS MicroOptics SA, a distinguished Swiss micro-optics component manufacturer. This strategic move marks a significant step forward in Focuslight’s goal to be an industry leader in photon generation, photon control and photonics application solutions.

SUSS MicroOptics SA will undergo full integration immediately, becoming a new Focuslight entity with all businesses and functions under the management of Focuslight’s current business units, operations and functional departments. SUSS MicroOptics SA’s fiber and semiconductor micro-optics business will be part of Focuslight’s Laser Optics Business Unit, while its automotive lighting business will be merged into Focuslight’s Automotive Business Unit. This transition will also entail the adoption of the new entity name Focuslight Switzerland SA and the consolidation of its entire product portfolio under the unified Focuslight brand.

After the integration, Focuslight will keep growing its major business units: Diode Lasers and Materials, Laser Optics, Automotive Solutions, Pan-Semiconductor Solutions, and Medical & Health Solutions. It is a commitment from Focuslight to grow with SUSS MicroOptics SA’s existing facility and capacity, and make further investment significantly in R&D and manufacturing capital in Switzerland. There are also additional plans from Focuslight for further cost-reduction initiatives with measures focusing on operational excellence, operation digitalization, and in-house process capability build-up.

Mergers and acquisitions are not unfamiliar words to Focuslight. In 2017, Focuslight successfully acquired LIMO GmbH, a world-leading manufacturer of micro-optics and beam-shaping solutions based in Dortmund, Germany, and completed the brand unification in January 2022. The integration of LIMO effectively united engineering expertise and the advantages of shared resources and knowledge, positioning Focuslight as a global leader in micro-optics technology.
